Fuck Yeah, John Gomez!
johngomez:

This is me and one of my best friends Steven Potter.  You know, the kid you used to go fuck up the neighbors front yards with, prank phone call the girl you “liked” in your history class, steal liquor from your parents and get so drunk you throw up all night….yeah that kid.
This was taken within the first few minutes of 2011.  The beginning of a new year, accepting all the mistakes of all years before, setting high hopes for the year to come.  Nobody could have pulled me aside that night and prepared me for all the events that were to unfold, and holy shit did a lot happen this year.
As this year wraps up I have a few final thoughts.
-family is everything.  I lost my first family member this year, I love you grandpa you have left me with so much more then I could thank you for.
-I’m so incredibly lucky to be able to wake up every day and say that I LOVE what I do.  The second that changes, I guess it’ll be time to find something new to make me happy, until then lets play some music :)
-Life is short, shit I have friends who have children of their own now.  Make it count, there is no one size fits all, no perfect blueprint for everyone to follow.
-A smile or compliment goes a long way, especially to a complete stranger.
-I can’t believe there are people all around the world who are “fans” of my band.  I put fans in quotes because the phrase kind of makes me uncomfortable to say, so lets just say I have amazing friends who listen to my band.
-Dreams do come true, don’t ever stop believing that, we dream big when we are younger and lose it along the way.
-laugh at yourself, there’s no need to take yourself or others too seriously.
All done.

Wake up and ask yourself: “am I living the way I want to live, am I doing all the things I want to do?”

If the answer is no, try again tomorrow.

Greetings Humans! Saying a quick hello from our van ( the friendSHIP). We just released a clip of a new song off “Something ‘Bout This Time of Year” off our EP “What Money Can’t Buy”. We will be releasing it DIGITALLY ONLY for donations, we are giving all donations to Toys for Tots.
This charity raises money and collects toys for children who arent able to have a Christmas like the ones I was lucky enough to have growing up. Together people can do truly amazing things to help the less fortunate. This is our way of showing some love during the holidays.
Help us make a kids Christmas one they will never forget.
Well here’s a link to listen to a new song :) its my FIRST time singing on a Summer Set song, hope you enjoy!

The Story Behind The EP Photo
This is the artwork for our upcoming holiday EP “What Money Can’t Buy.” A few weeks ago, when we were in the studio tracking the songs for this release, John and I got to talking about what we were gonna put on the cover. He casually asked “do you have any cool photos saved on your computer?” I said “maybe,” so I started browsing through my albums. I had a bunch of photos I took two years ago on tour of a bad snowstorm we ran into somewhere in Montana and this being a holiday release, I was naturally drawn to these snow covered photos. I was showing John a picture of a lone pine tree covered in snow, when he saw another photo a couple shots down. He asked me what it was, and honestly, I had no idea, so I enlarged the image to check it out.
It turned out to be a picture I took a few years back on the streets of Seattle with my girlfriend at that time. I think we were trying to get a full body shot of us, faces and all, but instead it turned out like this. It’s really kind of obscure, you can see the streetlights, the faint outline of cars, and the blur of our legs. For some reason we were drawn to it, it just seemed to work, so we went with it.
I remember the night that photo was taken, that feeling of being loved, it’s something money can’t buy. Thinking about it now, that photo fits the title perfectly.
